Terms & Conditions

WikiTrip ("the App") is operated by Björn Schefzyk ("the Maker"), based in Germany. By using the App, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Use of the App

WikiTrip reads Wikipedia articles about nearby places using text-to-speech. The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

2. Content

Article content is sourced from Wikipedia and is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share-Alike License 3.0. WikiTrip does not claim ownership of this content. The Maker does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content provided through the App.

3. Location Data

The App uses your device's location to find nearby articles. Location data is sent to the Wikipedia API for geographic searches and is not stored on our servers.

4. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases

WikiTrip offers a free tier with your device's built-in text-to-speech voice. A WikiTrip Premium subscription unlocks access to 13 high-quality AI voices powered by OpenAI.

Subscription Options: WikiTrip Premium is available as a monthly or annual subscription. Current pricing is displayed in the App at the time of purchase.

Billing: Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID account. Payment is charged at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

Cancellation: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device's Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions, or via the App Store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Free Trial: If a free trial is offered, any unused portion will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

Refunds: All purchases are subject to Apple's refund policies. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

5. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

Your use of the App is also subject to the terms and policies of these third-party services. The Maker is not responsible for the practices or availability of any third-party service.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Maker shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, personal injury, or property damage, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the App, even if the Maker has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for certain damages, the Maker's liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Safety notice: Do not use the App in a way that distracts you while driving or operating machinery.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Maker from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to your use of the App or your violation of these terms.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Maker makes no representations or warranties regarding the availability, reliability, or accuracy of the App or any content delivered through it. The App may be unavailable from time to time due to maintenance, third-party service outages, or other reasons. The Maker is under no obligation to provide support, updates, or bug fixes.

9. Intellectual Property

The App's design, code, and branding (excluding third-party content such as Wikipedia articles) are the property of the Maker. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer the App.

10. Termination

The Maker reserves the right to discontinue the App or restrict access to it at any time, for any reason, without notice or liability.

11. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

12. Changes

These terms may be updated from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

13. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Germany.
